Foodie Fun!

Hi there! Barb here again with a quick, easy gift idea project.

For some reason I get a little obsessed with coasters at this time of year. Maybe it's looking forward to those warming beverages during the long, cooler months.


A friend of mine was throwing a "Drinks n' Hors d'Oeuvres" party to celebrate the beginning of Autumn, so I thought I'd get out my blank coasters and make a fun little gift to take to her. I ended up making a dozen of these in less than an hour. Way less! It took longer for the final sealer coat to dry than it did to make all of them.


I began with a blank 3.5" square coaster. You can find these in just about any size if you search them online. Or, if you have a kitchen supply type store in your area, they usually carry them.


My friend loves to cook (we call it "getting chef-y"), so I thought RubberMoon's chef stamp would be perfect.

To begin my project, I simply stamped the chef image onto the coaster using StazOn Jet Black ink.


Next, I colored him in. Since the coasters are an off-white, I painted in his chef whites using white acrylic paint. I happen to have Amsterdam Acrylic on hand, but any white acrylic would do. I colored in his scarf and hair with sharpies.


Then I gave him a little bling by coloring in the platter with a silver metallic pen and dabbing copper Liquid Pearls on for his buttons.

I wanted the chef to stand out a little more, plus I wanted to add some background interest. So, I stamped the chef onto a piece of scrap paper and cut it out to use as a mask.


I put the mask over the image on the coaster. I set it on there loosely without bothering to tack it down in any way. I then used some turquoise colored glimmery spray that I made myself and gave the piece a few spritzes until I was happy with the amount of coverage.

I noticed that his platter was empty and decided that just wouldn't do. Being a bit of a story teller, I asked myself, "Well, what is he serving?" I answered myself with the sarcastic answer I used to give when asked what was for dinner, "Food."  Aha! I got out my RubberMoon "Food For Thought" stamp.


I only wanted to use the word "Food" from the stamp, so I masked the rest of the stamp off with scotch tape. If you've never done this before, it's simple. Mask the part you don't want inked with the tape. Then tap the stamp in ink. Remove the tape strip, and, ta-dah! You can now stamp a clean image using just part of the stamp.

That's how I arrived at my friend's doorstep with a dozen chefs each carrying a platter of food.

Miniatures with Rubber Moon Stamps

Hi everyone it's me, Jeannie, here with a fun post and some things to share with you on the RubberMoon arts blog!

A couple a weeks ago I was part of a swap that was all about miniature things.  What first caught my eye about it was that the one and only MARY ENGELBREIT was in it!! 

So, of course, I got hooked  into being in it too.  I didn't get a Mary swap and Mary didn't get one of mine, but it was still worth it!!

My post today is a banner and table extras to go along with some of the Mini's that I got in my swap.

I used the Polka Dot heart on some Muslin.

After I stamped it, I colored it in with my Bic pens and then took the Checkerboard Background stamp and stamped the corners of the banner pieces.

Next I stitched around the banner pieces with thread.

The last step was to hand sew the banner pieces to a piece of ribbon, and some sweet little buttons and and the I love you phrase from the TO THE MOON AND BACK stamp.

Before I show you the Mini's from my swap, here is what I made(not the greatest picture) sorry...

But they are little mini suitcases, Mary Engelbreit style, of course.

Here are some of the miniatures I received in my swap. (with my Banner on display in the mix)

There is a little Mirror, an ABC primer, a Mini Screen door, a hand painted framed picture, mini box, mini tray, mini cake and a coat rack.

These are just the things I received that matched today's post.

But how fun!!  Don't you think??

I think the banner looks adorable with everything.

Oh, stamps are soo much FUN!!

So, there you have it!  My post for today!  I hope enjoyed my sharing of goodies today.  

There is always so much to do with stamps.

I am thinking how sweet it would be to make mini pillows or how about a mini quilt set for my next mini swap?  Hmm...maybe I should get started now!!

A Banner for the Glampers

Hello Everyone, it's me Jeannie with a fun project for all you trailer lovin' people.

I've noticed on Pinterest that all the cute Glamping ladies have these banners for their little trailers.

So, I thought it'd be cute to make a banner with Lindsay Ostrom's trailer stamp.

I got the idea for this banner from the cover of Stamp Catalog that I have, but adapted and made it my own.

The "fringy" stuff in the back is strips from my little daughters old jeans.

The tag base are by Core'dinations.  

They are called Fashion Tags.

On the upper level of the banner I used some felt balls and the cheapy fuzzy things they sell in the kids craft section of stores.  I wanted to use all felt, but they are expensive!  WOW!!

I love all the colors to this and think it would be adorable on someones vintage camper...don't you think??
