New Year's Makeys and Musings....

Hi! It's me, Kae Pea! For those of you that don't know me, I am the "main moon" here at The Moon and The Maker Creative Space (home of RubberMoon and ArtFoamies Stamp companies). The story behind how I came to own these businesses is a long one and I won't bore you with those details here and now, (maybe later....). Just suffice it to say that I wear a lot of creative hats and the many facets of the business, including my own art practice, keeps me hopping with details that are, like most-any small business, simultaneously hectic, fun, creative, mundane and unique! So, when there was an opening for a blog post today, I said, "I will do it!" I thought it would be a great idea to do a New Year's post to share fun makey or project. Of course, as the deadline for the post approached, I thought to myself, "What was I thinking?" I needed another deadline or project like I need a bag of rocks (although I COULD paint a bag of rocks...but I digress...!) Although I do 'usually-always' have some art-project or makey ready to share, I thought, instead, for this post I would reflect a bit on the past year and ponder the future a bit too!
Let's just say it. Twenty-Twenty One was a doozy of a year. As a business owner it was a real challenge. And as an Empath even more of a challenge. But art, creativity and 'getting makey' everyday helps me navigate these difficult times. I do not ignore what is happening in our world. Rather, I recognize the need for light and goodness and radiating a source of joy when there are so many sources for the opposite.
It is my sincere hope that whether you are a part of my comMOONity, follow RubberMoon, a fan of ArtFoamies or a visitor at The Moon and The Maker or all of the above...Whether you join me on Patreon and watch me "Get Makey" 5 days a week or see me on Facebook on ArtFoamies Fun Friday or maybe just a YouTube video every now and again, that you will find it as a source of joy and inspiration in your life too.
I hope you are joining in for Nathalie Kalbach's Creative Jump Start 2022 (it is not too late!)
And that if you are not already my Patron, you will join me this year, to focus on creative self care and lots of getting makey!

Here are random pictures of so many "Makeys" I created and shared in 2021:

I can't promise it will make life perfect, but I can safely say, it will make it better :)
And I can promise all of inspiration, innovation, kindness and caring I have to give.
Here is to getting through another year together, creatively!
Stay safe, Stay Sane and Stay Makey,

A Happy, Healthy 2022 to you.

Kae Pea

Haunted House Halloween Candy Boxes

🦇👻Haunted House Halloween Candy Boxes👻🦇

Hi it's me Patti Campbell, this week's guest designer for the RubberMoon/ArtFoamies blog. Today I wanted to create a little Halloween magic.

For this project you will need:

Step 1:
I put the boxes together and painted them with my black gesso.

Step 2:
I stamped the Haunted Hangout stamp on the black paper twice and once on the white paper so I would have 3 houses total.

Step 3:
I cut out the houses.

Step 4:
I cut some elements off two of the houses so they wouldn't all be the same.

Step 5:
With the X-acto knife I cut out some of the windows.

Step 6:
Using the white gel pen, on the black houses I added some details around the windows and doors. And on the white house I did the same with my black micron.

Step 7:
I glued the houses onto the boxes leaving part of the chip board house exposed to add depth.

Step 8:
With the white gel pen I added ghosts and spooky faces in the windows.

Step 9:
I filled the boxes with candy.

Hope you enjoyed my little haunted house project! I was thinking they would make super cute party favors.

👻Have a Happy Halloween!👻
Love and laughter,
Patti

Blooming Ideas

🎕💜Blooming Ideas Denim Jacket💜🎕

Hello again, Patti here to share my hand painted denim jacket.

For this project I used:

Step 1:
To begin this project I stamped my images onto newsprint and cut them out so I could play with the design and placement on the jacket.

Step 2:
Once I had finalized my design placement, I took a picture and printed the picture out so I could remember where I had placed the images.

Step 3:
I mixed the Titanium White paint with the GAC according to directions. Then I put a generous amount of the paint mixture onto my stamp buddy.

Step 4:
I stamped the images on my jacket using the stamp buddy and paint mixture.

Step 5:
I let the paint dry thoroughly, and then heat set it with my iron.

Step 6:
I started to paint in the colors, deciding along the way which colors I wanted where.

Step 7:
Once all the paint on the jacket was completely dry, I again heat set with my iron, and my jacket was complete!

💜🎕Thank you so much for following along !🎕💜

Patti

Celestial Dreamcatcher

 Celestial Dreamcatcher

Hello again everyone! It's Patti Campbell here to share how I made this fun stampdala dreamcatcher.

For this project I used:

Step 1:

With a pencil I traced the inside of the metal hoop onto the canvas 2 times.

Step 2:

I cut out the 2 circles I traced.

*I did iron the circles after I cut them out.

Step 3:

I folded the circles in half, and then in half again and pinched the point to make a crease in order to find the center. Then I laid it out to be ready to stamp.

Step 4:

I put the paint on the stamp buddy in a circular rainbow pattern.

Step 5:

Using the paint on the stamp buddy I inked up the Spiraling stamp and then stamped it onto the center of the canvas circle.

Step 6:

Using a Scrap Buddy with the orange paint, I inked up the outside ring of the Celestial Rings set and stamped it around the spiral on the canvas.

Step 7:

I used a scrap buddy with the red paint to ink up the center of the heart stamp and placed it on the North, East, South, and West points of the canvas circle.

Step 8:

Using the blue and white paint mixed together on a scrap buddy, I inked up the Wingspan stamps, and stamped the wings on either side of each heart.

Step 9:

Next, using the same stamp buddy with the circular rainbow paint, I inked up the middle ring from the Celestial Rings set, and stamped it between the tops of each heart on the canvas.

Step 10:

Using the center (face) of the Celestial Rings set with the yellow and white paint, I stamped in the middle of each circle from the previous step.

Step 11:

Using the blue, white, and purple paints on a stamp buddy, I inked up the Small Moon Goddess and stamped it in between each heart, under the circles.

Step 12:

Be sure to let ALL of the paint dry thoroughly before the next step!

Step 13:

Pin the 2 circles of canvas right sides together.

Step 14:

I went to my sewing machine and sewed 1/4" seam allowance leaving an opening at the bottom to turn it right side out.

Step 15:

Remove the pins from the canvas and turn the circle right side out.

Step 16:

I pressed the seam with an iron, and then folded in the opening to complete the circle and pressed that with an iron.

Step 17:

Using my rainbow thread I stitched 2 rows of decorative zigzag stiches around the whole circle.

Step 18:

Using the leather hole punch, I punched 16 holes evenly spaced around the outside of the circle. You can measure this if you want to, but I did not.

Step 19:

Using the eyelets and the eyelet setter, I placed eyelets in all 16 holes.

Step 20:

I cut 8 pieces of hemp cord, and looped them around the metal hoop.

Step 21:

Each end piece of every loop goes into separate eyelets, one to the right of the loop and one to the left, leaving the loop in the center of 2 eyelets.

Step 22:

I tied the cords on the back on the circle in a double knot.

Step 23:

Taking the ends from the knot, I looped them over the hoop and made another knot behind the canvas.

Step 24:

I made sure the knots were tight and then trimmed the ends so they don't show.

Step 25:

I looped some more strands of cord on the bottom of the hoop to make long fringe.

Step 26:

I tied feathers and wooden beads randomly onto the fringe, then trimmed the fringe to my liking.

Step 27:

I added a loop using the cord to the top for hanging.

💖Hope you enjoyed my project!💖

Love and Laughter,

Patti
