Stamped Spring Tea Cookies !!!!!

Winter is already bringing on a longing for color...

and it's not even January.

yet, here we are surrounded by

mile-high snowbanks 

and icicles the size of Cleveland.

So though I must concede to winter.

 I can find joy in the tiny perks that

                                                           winter brings.

I snuggle by a crackling fire,

 curl up with a colorful magazine and dream of hollyhocks in the garden,

 prepare a perfectly perfect cup of steaming tea,

 fill the kitchen with the fragrance of sugar cookies

fresh from a warm oven 

and with the help of Rubbermoon Stamps, turn the cookies into colorful flowers.

HA!!! TAKE THAT, WINTER!!!!!! 

begin with your favorite sugar cookie dough 

and a cute little flower shaped cookie-cutter.

I used an adorable bite-size, that way I can justify eating more...

use Rubbermoon stamp to emboss center of flower before baking

bake as directed,

cool for a minute, then gently re-stamp if necessary...

you can serve them at this point, depending on how hungry you are,

or 

if you can't leave well enough alone (like me)

you can decide they should have some razzle-dazzle.

as far as I'm concerned, everything always needs some razzle-dazzle.

 and you

 fill center depression with icing...

and wait

and wait

and WAIT

for icing to harden so you can 

add the dang razzle-dazzle.

*really experienced bakers know all these icing things, but you can already tell I am not a whizz in the baking department - I used pre made cookie dough...

ok, eventually the icing will harden enough to stamp on.

but remember patience is a virtue.

so then you take your nifty food-grade MARKERS ( such a brilliant baking tool, whoever thought of this deserves a crown. )

and just color the stamp

and

STAMP YOUR COOKIE, GIRL!!!!

if there are any cookies left by now, ( well, that's what happens when one has to wait for icing to harden...cookies innocently disappear ) then go ahead and add some colorful little candy centers using a dab of frosting for 'glue'.

then

pour a cup of tea,

and enjoy your

delicious

Spring Bouquet!!!!!

RubberMoon loves Tombow! #tombow100

Hi. It's me, Kae Pea! I was pretty thrilled when Tombow asked me to join in on the 100 days of Tombow blog hop! My participation in this hop helps a great cause ($100.00 worth of product to the Council for Arts Education for each person participating) and well, you know that I love a good artsy challenge! I have used and loved Tombow products for a good number of years and RubberMoon Art Stamps and Tombow supplies are a match made in crafting heaven!

Tombow sent me such a nice package of things to play with, including Tombow dual tip markers, a Stamp Runner adhesive roller and a wonderful box of Trojiten colored pencils. Aren't they great?

Products from Tombow

 As soon as I saw the great box that the pencils came packaged in, I knew I wanted to make a travel art box!!

So I got started right away....I pulled out a few extra materials....

Materials used in this project:

1. Tombow Dual tip markers (in assorted colors)
2. Trojiten Colored Pencils from Tombow ( and I used the box they came in to create this project!)
3. Tombow Stamp Runner adhesive roller
4. white glue
5. white gesso
6. a flat paintbrush
7. a few RubberMoon stamps (including a small Ultimate Red Rubber Palette)
8. (2) pieces of coordinating decorative papers and a scrap of cardboard (for insert)
9. assorted colors of acrylic paint
10. a black inkpad

 

I cut my scrapbook paper to size and a piece of cardboard to line the inside and set it aside.

    I opened up the box and laid it flat. I  brushed white glue all over the outside, making sure to cover the entire box.

I covered my entire box with one piece of decorative paper. (though you could collage lots of different pieces too.)

 

Make sure your paper is smoothed down well and glued on all edges....

Next, I used my Tombow Stamp Runner adhesive and ran some adhesive on my cardboard insert and the inside flap of the box so I could line both with more of my coordinating decorative papers.

Adhere your papers...and glue your covered cardboard into the bottom of the box.

 YAY! Now the box is covered inside and out and it is time to Stamp, play and COLOR!!!

I dry brushed avery small amount of white gesso onto my outside cover. I just did this to break up the pattern of the paper a bit so my stamped images would stand out a little better. I was very sparing and only did very light coverage.

and then...I stamped my chosen RubberMoon Stamps using black waterproof ink.

and colored the images in using my Tombow markers and colored pencils!

I also took my favorite paint splatter stamp and "inked" it up using acrylic paint.

I squeezed out a bit of paint onto The Ultimate Red Rubber Palette and spread it out evenly using a sponge brush to make a thin layer of paint. I then tapped my stamp onto it to get paint onto the stamp...

I repeated this process three times with three different colors of paint (cleaning the palette between paint applications). It added so much fun, colorful texture and was just what I needed for my artsy pencil case. See?

I finally added just the right sayings to the back and the inside and then filled it with some art supplies to take along with me so I can make art and journal wherever I go....

Moonlight Vintage Trailer Holiday Art

Paint Over Collage Art
I had so much fun creating this small Holiday piece of Art.  I found it only fitting that my first blog post as a Rubbermoon Creative Team member be one including a Vintage Trailer traveling under the starry Moon. Please follow along and I will demonstrate my ideas and technique.

Materials
I used just a few simple materials along with 3 Rubbermoon Stamps. This very cute tiny 3 inch Matboard Square came from a cool retailer, Inchie Arts LLC.  I coupled it along with a small wooden Easel making a fun display.  You can use paint, water color pencils, markers etc. to add color to your Holiday Art.
I will post the Rubbermoon Stamps used later in my demonstration.

Collaged Matboard

I feel that collaging underneath Art Work adds interest and fun to creating. For this piece I used Text from an Old Book and a Map of course.

The main Stamp in this Holiday Art is the wonderful Vintage Trailer: AIRLYTE
The second is a very cool Christmas Tree stamp: Tree w/ Lights db2590e.
Last but certainly not least is the tiny version of the very popular "New moon" These will be available on Rubbermoon Etsy Shop soon.
Be sure to lightly Gesso before stamping onto your Matboard.

Making it Christmas Art

Now comes the really fun part. Making it into Christmas Art of your own!  I did this by drawing a Christmas tree on top of the Trailer and adding a string of Christmas Lights to the side. I was very lucky to find the text, "Merry Christmas" from an old book and I pasted it to the matboard, outlining it using a graphite pencil.  After this,  just paint onto the Matboard or use markers to make it "your own" work of Art. I dotted the sky around the moon with a White Paint Sharpie marker to create tiny stars around the little moon.
