Enchanted Moon Garden Story Board Scenes By Jenn White - August 22, 2022

Welcome to the ArtFoamies BLOG. I am so happy you are here! I am excited to be back to play & create with you! YAY!

☆I am beginning to feel the Autumn mood approaching. That usually means creating new, unique & unusual decor for my home. I wanted to work on a project that would feel like a pleasant seasonal transition from summer into Autumn.

☆I have been inspired to create dimensional storyboard scenes as illustrations for my short stories using many ArtFoamies foam stamp design images on black substrates.

It is my heartfelt wish to inspire you to see & USE your ArtFoamies in new & different ways by showing you my creative process. If you are stuck or do not know where to begin, perhaps my way of creating will work for you too. When you try this, I would love to see photos of your results. Knowing that I inspired you to create art with your ArtFoamies will make my day!

☆LET'S BEGIN! YAY!☆

☆ STEP ONE - GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES ☆

☆The supplies you will need to create along with me are:

☆Your favorite ArtFoamies foam art stamp designs. (Make sure they are all clean & dry.)
There is a list of the ArtFoamies I used including direct links to them on the ArtFoamies website near the bottom of this blog post.

☆SMOOTH black drawing paper OR SMOOTH black card stock OR SMOOTH black hot press watercolor paper.

☆A white ink pad & a bottle of white ink refill. I used *link* Moonlight White opaque whitest white artisan ink pad for mixed media and paper arts by THE MOON AND THE MAKER.

☆ PRO TIP 1 ☆

Did you know that ANY shade of the *link* Moonlight Duo Tint & Hue ink pads will show up on black paper? As long as you blend the color with the white side of the pad it will show up as a tinted color on the black paper.

☆ PRO TIP 2 ☆

The most important thing is to have a juicy ink pad to give good ink coverage on your ArtFoamies foam stamps. I used the *link* Moonlight White Tint & Hue re-inker by THE MOON & THE MAKER to freshen up my ink pad. A fresh re-inking of your ink pad can really make all the difference in how your stamped images look & turn out.

☆ PRO TIP 3 ☆

Make sure to always shake the re-inker bottle well with the lid tightly screwed on before applying it to the ink pad.

☆You will also need your favorite pair of sharp scissors for cutting paper. They will be used for trimming around & cutting out some of your stamped images to layer them over your created backgrounds to create a dimensional scene.

☆You will need your favorite adhesives to adhere papers together. Foam mounting tape is great if you have it. It can be used to give your creation a more dimensional look. I used a a package of black foam double sided adhesive squares I had in my stash to layer the stamped image designs onto my background scenes.

☆ PRO TIP 4 ☆

If you wish to change out or move your images around on your background scenes, I suggest that you choose to use a removable adhesive or a reposistional adhesive.

☆You can use these scenes as home decor, wall art, as a page in your art journal, on greeting cards, as book cover art, in a homemade children's book, in a shadow box or shoe box as a miniature stage set, a backdrop to play with paper dolls or whatever you wish to dream up or imagine. You can use my ideas or do with them as you choose.
 

☆ STEP TWO  - IMAGINATION & VISION☆

Many of my ideas for the art I create come to me while I am asleep dreaming. This short story I wrote is a dream I had that inspired the creations I am sharing with you. I have many ArtFoamies in my stash that will work perfectly to illustrate this dream on scene story boards.

VISUALIZE THIS: You are walking down a path through a fragrant flower garden on a summer night. You see the flashing lights of the fire flies. You see the far away light from our sun reflecting off of the planets & moons in our solar system. You see the other mysterious stars within our galaxy & galaxies beyond ours in the vast universe shining above you. You see Earth's moon reflecting the full glow of our solar system's sun, casting light, creating shadows & reflections. The heavily scented beds of blooms are absorbing the light of the moon causing them to glow & sparkle.

The flowers look as if they have been painted with with phosphorescent paint and sprinkled with a fine powder of twinkling iridescent glitter. A rainbow halo appears around the massive super moon. A misty cooling fog slowly creeps in, curling its way around everything including you. It coats all it touches with a thick dew. The condensation becomes so heavy, it drips down the plant's petals & leaves. The reflection of the Moonlight creates a sparkling, dew drop diamond mine. Glistening gorgeousness surrounds you.

You look on, gasping in disbelief as the bees, moths, butterflies, dragonflies, fireflies & hummingbirds transform into pixies & fairies flying all around you. They sip the dewy nectar from the flowers. It cools & refreshes them, quenching their thirst. Ghosts of sentient beings float amongst the fairies, haunting the garden paths. They seem to be enjoying this blissfully surreal sight right along with you. A fairy flutters close, then whispers in your ear, "they are your guardians, the spirits of lost loved ones, do not fear them, they mean you no harm."

Suddenly mushrooms & toadstools begin magically rising up from the Earth. Expanding & unfurling to serve as tables & chairs for the fairies. Providing them a place to rest, play & create. Their own miniature art studio. They happily work together tediously & carefully choosing blossoms & greenery for their creations. Just before the rise of the light the fairies present you with a glorious crown of flowers they created especially for you. Flying around the crown they lift it and place it upon your head. They thank you for creating, planting & caring for such a beautiful flower garden fueling station for all of the pollinators. Especially the monarch butterflies on their way south at this time. As soon as the dawn begins to colorfully light the atmosphere they change back into bees, moths, butterflies, dragonflies & hummingbirds & the guardian spirits can no longer be seen. You are so thankful for a new day & more time to live, you whistle along with the cardinal birds that are announcing the beginning of a brand new day.

☆ STEP THREE - MIXING & MATCHING ☆

Spread out all of your ArtFoamies on your bed, table, desk, bench, couch, counter, floor. Wherever you have enough space to sort & group them for your scenes. Which ones look best together? Which ones compliment each other? Which ones are your favorites? I usually sort my piles of ArtFoamies by what looks realistic, what looks both realistic & whimsical, what looks whimsical & cartoonish & by patterns, shapes & so on.

☆ PRO TIP 5☆

YOUR ARTFOAMIES ARE TWO SIDED! YES! YOU CAN STAMP THEM ON THE B SIDE TOO! Check your ArtFoamies to see which ones would look great stamped on the B side! Some allow you left & right symmetrical stamping & some come in left & right symmetrical sets so you can color the smooth side then stamp it as the background then stamp over it with the outline design side! YAY!

☆ PRO TIP 6 ☆

I have several duplicates of my favorite ArtFoamies that I use most often so I can easily use one with dark ink & one with white ink without having to constantly clean them, wash them & dry them. I have spoiled my white ink pads so many times by inking up an ArtFoamies Stamp that has black ink on it & I did not know it. You cannot see black ink on a black ArtFoamies foam stamp. MAKE SURE YOUR ARTFOAMIES ARE ALL CLEAN & DRY PRIOR TO INKING. This will save you lots of time & frustration.
 

☆ STEP FOUR - INKING & AUDITIONING ☆

Ink up your ArtFoamies foam art stamps with the Moonlight White ink pad & stamp them down onto the black papers.

I like to hold the ink pad in my right hand & lightly pounce the ink pad down onto the ArtFoamies stamp I am holding in my left hand. I make sure to cover the ArtFoamies foam art stamp heavily & evenly with the Moonlight White ink until I can no longer see any black on the RAISED line design of the Art Foamies stamp. Some ArtFoamies are smooth without a line design. Make sure the smooth black surface on them is completely covered smooth & even with the Moonlight White ink.
Press the inked ArtFoamies foam stamp down onto the black paper. I like to hold it down on the paper for at least 30 seconds while lightly pressing on it all over very thoroughly to make sure all the ink transfers onto the paper.

☆ PRO TIP 7 ☆

There are a few super fine detailed script, font & continuous fine line drawn ArtFoamies foam art stamp designs that I will not press down on to stamp like this. I am not using any of those ArtFoamies for this project though. A light touch must be used with those ArtFoamies designs.

Grip the side edges of of the ArtFoamies foam art stamp with your thumb & fingers (or with both hands depending on the size) without moving the stamp around on the paper. Slowly lift the stamp STRAIGHT UPWARD. Repeat this as many times as you wish with that same stamp or others, freshly inking up the ArtFoamies foam art stamps each & every time you stamp them down on the paper so your stamped images will have equal coverage & color quality. I like to fill many sheets of paper with duplicates of the same stamped image since I will be cutting them out by hand to add to my stamped background scenes. I use any extras that remain on greeting cards, in my art journals, in my planners, as gift tags on packages & for many other creations.




☆ STEP FIVE - BACKGROUNDS ☆

If you are using a rectangular shaped paper substrate you need to decide if you want it to be situated in portrait or landscape format.
 

☆ PRO TIP 8 ☆

If you are using the background in a frame, shadow box or shoe box theater, it is a VERY good idea to already have the paper precut & situated to the correct size & format to fit your project BEFORE you start stamping the layered background scenes. Decide if you want a moon stamped on the background & where you would like it's placement to be. 

When stamping the night background scenes I like to stamp the moon & sky features first & maybe even do a star speckle splatter with a splatter brush tool. It doesn't always work out that way though, especially when one of your practice background scenes you stamped turns out to be your visual Masterpiece & you want to use it in your creation. In this case, it really is okay to stamp the moons separately & cut them out by hand, then add them in at the end. Especially if you are worried about messing up your favorite background by accidentally mis-stamping the moon on the scene after the fact. There is usually a way to fix or camouflage a moon stamping oopsy. You can make the moon larger or cover any stamping errors with the stamped images you cut out by hand.

I usually create many layered background stampings before I decide which stamps I want to use together & which scenes I like most. I find that it is time to stop stamping the background when it starts to become visually pleasing to my eyes.
 
If you don't like how yours turned out or if you feel that your stamping errors cannot be covered or touched up, remember, it is only paper & ink, they will make more, it's not the end of the world. Keep trying again & again because it is fun to play. The more you experiment & practice the better you will get.

When attempting to create a dimensional optical illusion, the larger, wider, closer images get stamped in the front & the smaller, skinnier, far away looking images get stamped in the back for the look of layered depth & distance. Choose & arrange your ArtFoamies designs & stamp them with this in mind.





☆ STEP SIX - LAYERING ☆


☆Sometimes less is more when adding & adhering in your cut out images to the background scenes. Too many things going on can be visually over stimulating. You will see what I mean when you start auditioning, adding & adhering the stamped images you cut out for layering. Remember to use a removable & repositionable adhesive if you want to be able to move & change up or change out your layered images. I used sheets of black double sided adhesive foam mounting tape squares to permanently adhere the cut & layered stamped images I chose for my story board scenes.







☆ STEP 7 - ADDED TOUCHES ☆

Feel free to embellish your creation by using things like glitter or metallic gel pens, glitter pastes, glitter glues dimensional drops, gems, sequins, confetti, trims, etc., whatever is pleasing to your eyes.

To create the look of the fog I applied ink from the Moonlight White ink pad to my right index finger & rubbed it onto the black paper in a sweeping circular motion.

Blue Moon Mermaid By Jenn White

I'm so happy you decided to stop by the BLOG to take a look at my post today! WELCOME! I am back again to inspire you to create, experiment & play with your art supplies & ArtFoamies. I am excited for you to try something new! Let's PLAY! YAY!

~INSPIRATION~

I was inspired to try this while I was creating my water garden collage for my last blog post. These Red Tin Roof 2 Koi Fish ArtFoamies had my imagination envisioning mermaid tails. Inspiration for one creation always finds me imagining something new for my next one. The best way to get started is to sit down & play & have fun!


~INVITATION~

Wendy Aspinall invited me to participate in her display hand decorating & painting art swap in July of 2021. After our swap partners were randomly chosen, I spent many hours of my spare creative time during the month of August 2021 decorating jewelry display hands that I found & ordered on Etsy & Amazon. I discovered my hand swap partner loves mermaids, the ocean & the beach She also loves blues & greens together. When my display hands arrived, I gave them a coat of clear gesso to give the plastic a bit more tooth for the paint to adhere to.

~EXPERIENCE~

I had 2 experimental failures in the beginning of this artistic experience but I kept trying & practicing. I did not give up. Sometimes the failures we experience can be as simple as using the wrong art supply for what we are trying to accomplish. For my first attempts I tried using an inexpensive package of air dry clay I had on my table for this creation. I was very disappointed when it cracked & crumbled & fell off the display hand. I love this clay & use it all the time but it was not the right product for this particular project.


~DETERMINATION~

I saw that I had some White Aves Apoxie Sculpt left on the shelf in my studio. I had used this product many times in the past & knew it would work perfectly for the look & texture I was trying to achieve. I knew it would also adhere to the plastic hand without cracking & falling off.

I was so glad I had taken the photos of my previous attempts when the air dry clay was wet because those photos gave me the determination to try again to create the masterpiece that was inside my head waiting to be born from my hands. I knew if I tried again it could be even better this time. If not, it would be more practice to help me learn & I would keep trying until my desired result was achieved.

~IMAGINATION~

I wanted to use the half doll resin piece from Sandra Evertson's Relics & Artifacts CELESTIAL SET for the top of the mermaid's body. I had imagined it as a mermaid from the first time I laid eyes on it. I looked through many photos to decide how I wanted the mermaid to look. I researched many types of Male Beta fighting fish, Antique Mermaid Art & custom painted mermaid tails on Pinterest.

~KNEADING~

For those of you that have never used or tried AVES Apoxy Sculpt, it is a two part adhesive clay. I always wear 9mil nitrile gloves when I work with this clay to protect my sensitive skin. I use two different spoons to scoop out equal amounts of the clay from jar A & jar B. I then knead the two equal parts together for a few minutes until I cannot tell that they once were separated. It is a good idea to let this ball of clay rest for five to ten minutes on a protected surface after blending it together.

~SCULPTING~

I rolled the blended clay into one long cylindrical bar to have a piece long enough for the mermaid tail effect I wanted to sculpt. I split the cylinder of clay in half at the top & inserted the half doll piece. Smoothing the clay carefully into the resin with distilled water misted gloves. I then attached the mermaid's behind to the palm of the display hand. I curved the tail back & forth as I sculpted it. I was a bit concerned that it was looking too much like a snake, dragon or basilisk but painting it later changed all that.



~TEXTURIZING~

I did not have many texture tools with me on vacation, so I tried using my own creativity to make a special tool of my own to create the scales on the mermaid's tail. The idea was right under my nose as I was sipping iced tea from the straw in my cup. I cut the straw in half with my scissors & pushed it into the clay to create the tiny layers of scalloped scales all over the mermaid's tail.

~ROLLING~

When the body of the tail was complete I had quite a bit of Aves Apoxie Sculpt remaining. I decided to use it to create the fins on her body & tail & on the knuckles of the display hand. I rolled the Apoxie Sculpt out thin, flat & smooth and let it rest for about 45 minutes so it would not stick to my mat or to my ArtFoamies.


~STAMPING~

Pushing the Red Tin Roof Koi Fish ArtFoamies fins down into the rolled out thin Aves Apoxie Sculpt & lifting them up slowly & carefully worked beautifully. Every single tiny line of detail showed up perfectly. YAY! I stamped a total of 18 fins this way from all of the many different fins on both of the Red Tin Roof Koi Fish ArtFoamies.

~CUTTING~

I used my scissors to cut out each one of the eighteen stamped fins by hand. Being very careful not to damage or dent the raised texture lines on the delicate fins.

~APPLYING~

I gently applied, attached, blended & smoothed the delicate fins to each of the finger knuckles and to the mermaid tail. I layered lifted many at the base of the mermaid's tail & at her waist. I used a ball stylus to add texture, lift & curl to where I connected the fins to her tail.


~PAINTING~

There are over 14 layers of paint on this piece. I used many of my favorite metallic, pearl & interference paints. Being patient during the drying times of each coat of paint & knowing when to stop is key. I had to wipe off & paint back over a few times.

 
~GLITTERING~

I added a bit of twinkling iridescent glitter glue to the fingernails & fins on the hand & then added some to her fins & body to give her that magical, sparkling, enchanting look.


~EMBELLISHING~

I had so many great pearly, opalescent & iridescent trims in my stash that were perfect for dangling from the fingers of this mermaid hand. I even added some eyelash yarn & false hair from a costume wig I own.

~CUSTOM COLORED TRIMS~

After getting a few opinions from 3 of my trusted artist friends & my husband, I tried custom painting some of the white iridescent eyelash yarn with the same colors of paint I used in the mermaid's tail. I could not believe it actually worked & looked like seaweed when I added it to her hair. You never know until you try!

~FINAL ADDED TOUCH~

It was time to call her done & get her mailed off to my art swap partner. The day of the deadline to finish & mail her had arrived. For the final added touch, I decided to add a giant white pearl in her hands above her head & some iridescent crystals to her crown using super glue.


~ATTACHMENT~

I discovered that one of the most difficult things for me is creating a pleasing artistic gift for someone I do not know very well & have never met. Falling in love with my creation, then letting it go to it's new home is not easy. Sending it off all alone to some far away place I have never visited before. Hoping the person receiving it will love & care for it as much as I do. That is one of the many reasons we artists create art isn't it? To leave pieces of ourselves behind so we will not be forgotten?

Water Garden Joys by Jenn White

HELLO EVERYONE! It is so great to be back here on the BLOG with you! I have missed you! I hope you have been enjoying the Summer of 2021!

For the past two weeks, I have been taking day trip getaways with my youngest daughter Victoria, visiting a favorite garden of mine in Kingsville Missouri, Powell Gardens. It has been so nice to get out of the house & enjoy such a beautiful place together.

We have spent many delightful hours walking, exploring, discovering, sitting quietly watching the gold finches, cardinals, hummingbirds, butterflies, moths, bees & dragonflies frolic all around us. My favorite place in this garden is where the water lilies & lotus flowers grow. I am so at peace & inspired there. Gazing into the water falls & at all of the dreamy lovely flowers, lily pads & water plants growing all around me.

While gazing & marveling at all of this beauty I remembered that I had purchased several water lily, greenery, koi fish & flowery ArtFoamies stamp sets about a year ago & I had not yet played with them. Now was definitely the perfect inspired time!

When I arrived home from our last visit on Thursday night I searched for these ArtFoamies & started to play & experiment with them, seeing what worked best for the designs I had dancing through my mind.

The Artfoamies products used in this piece are: 

I started out stamping around with the Galaxy Green Moonlight Duo Tint & Hue inkpad on the edge of a giant pad of 140lb hot press water color paper with Kae Pea's large sized FIELD OF WILD ArtFoamies foam stamp, curving the position and overlapping as I stamped it down. 

Then I decided to stamp on some of the very large circles I had previously traced & cut out of those same sheets of watercolor paper. I traced around the edge of my largest circle shaped canvas with a pencil to get it centered & perfectly round. I adore big spheres, circles & mandalas!

I was so driven to create I totally spaced off taking step by step photos of the beginning of my artistic process. I decided I wanted my creation it to be three dimensional & have many layers for lots of depth to give it the illusion of life & movement.

To achieve this I stamped several different ArtFoamies foam stamp images separately on different pads of paper & fussy cut them out, layering them with double sided adhesive foam mounting tape. 


Water soluble watercolor crayon sticks were used to paint the water & watercolor paint directly onto the Water Lily & Water Lily Bud Artfoamies by Red Tin Roof as well as the colors in & around the green stamped ArtFoamies image Mistletoe by Kae Pea & Leafy Mandala by Julie Balzer.

Gnome Garden Party Picks & Wands - Jenn White


HI EVERYONE! I am back with more fun for you! YAY! I LOVE Garden Parties! How about you? I invite you all to join me in creating party favors & decorations for a fun Gnome Garden Party. Let's get busy inking, stamping, working our scissors & hot glue guns again! Shall we?

Designing & creating party decorations & crafting kits is one of my favorite things to do! Such a happy activity! I am a PARTY MOM for all of my daughters & I am a PARTY MIMI for all of my grandchildren now too! So many fun memories are made creating & crafting together with all of the pieces & bits of business I make with ArtFoamies products.

I love watching everyone's results when they put my created pieces together with their own imaginations. Two of the results recently born from my own imagination are custom decorative cupcake picks & magic wands.  Such fun party favors that spark feel good memories & bring smiles for years to come.

Feel free to be inspired to re-create these with your beautiful imagination & your own ArtFoamies products too.

They are so fun & easy to make by yourself & with your loved ones.

The supplies you will need to get together to recreate these are:
  • Tooth picks or food picks
  • Bamboo Skewers
  • Hot glue gun & glue sticks
  • Scissors
  • Sturdy White smooth stampable paper that can be easily cut with scissors. I used the smooth side of 140lb hot press watercolor paper, heavy weight cardstock & specialty stamping paper.
  • Embellishments such as glitter glues, gems, ribbons & trims are optional.

I began this project by creating custom inked StampBuddy pads to stamp the ArtFoamies into. These are how I create the colorful ombre & rainbow stamping effects. Choose your favorite colors from The Moonlight Duo re-inkers & MoonGlo re-inkers to do this. The ones I chose are listed in the ArtFoamies product shopping list above. 



GNOME GARDEN PARTY CUPCAKE PICKS

I wanted the Gnomes to have fairy wings so they could fly & a variety of mushrooms to play on.
  • I inked & stamped a sheet of Kae Pea's smaller GNOMELY gnomes. 
  • I inked & stamped a sheet of Kae Pea's WHIMSY WINGS on the "B" side. YES! YOU CAN USE BOTH SIDES OF YOUR ARTFOAMIES! BONUS!
  • I inked & stamped a few sheets of Kae Peas SHROOMS TO GROW on the "B" side onto some 12" x 12" sheets of specialty stamping cardstock paper.
I love the variety of colors I can get with my custom inked StampBuddy pads don't you? So pretty!


I cut all of the stamped images out by hand which only took about an hour or so.


Next I used my hot glue gun & glue sticks to attach the wings to the Gnome's bodies. I then hot glued a wooden tooth pick to the back of the flying Gnome.


  • Be sure to hot glue another flying Gnome on the back to so both sides are pretty. I did this with the mushrooms too!
  • Make sure to glue the toothpick low enough on the bottom backs of the Gnomes & mushrooms so your toothpick stem will be extending out enough to insert into the cupcakes.
You could also add these to your INDOOR plants & INDOOR fairy gardens too! They definitely can be used for more things than just cupcakes & garden party foods!



GNOME GARDEN PARTY FAIRY WANDS

I also used some of the small winged gnomes I created on the wands! THESE ARE SO FUN FOR IMAGINARY PLAY! YAY! I love layering, dimension & embellishment. How about you?

These wands were made by layering fussy cut pieces of stamped ArtFoamies! ARE YOU READY? LET'S MAKE ONE TOGETHER!

First I inked up a bamboo kabob skewer by rolling it over one of my custom rainbow inked StampBuddy pads & set it aside to dry. I then inked up Cat Kerr's STAR Artfoamie & Sandra Evertson's SOLAR FLARE Artfoamie with the Galactic Green Moon & The Maker Moonlight Duo Tint & Hue ink pad.


To make both of the layered sides of one wand you will need to ink & stamp two of each the "A" side & the "B" side of Cat Kerr's STAR for a total of 4 pieces. You will need one of each of the "A" side & the "B" side of Sandra Evertson's SOLAR FLARE ArtFoamie. For a total of 2 pieces. I stamped them on the smooth side of 140lb watercolor paper.


I then used my scissors to cut them out.
 

I stacked the cut out, stamped images & looked at how I wanted to layer them before I hot glued the layers together. I wanted them to look like a layered glowing, sparkling star & forest greenery all at the same time.


I hot glued all of the layers together & one by one.I then hot glued the bamboo kabob skewer, SHARP POINTED SIDE UP in between the 2 layered stacks. One on each side makes the wand pretty on both sides!
 

I hot glued two of the winged Gnomes I created earlier in the center of each side of the wand.


I finished it off by adding some sparkling iridescent glitter glue to all of the points for a magical effect!


Here's a finished wand awaiting some shimmer and shine!

Springtime Bunny Fun By Jenn White

HI EVERYONE! I invite you to join me in creating some simple, fast & fun Springtime creations with ArtFoamies foam art stamps. 

I have been busy inking, stamping & working my scissors getting gifts of Springtime cheer ready to mail & send out to my friends & family members. ArtFoamies foam stamps make it so fast & easy to stamp mass quantities of identical gifts.

I am known for my mass assembly line crafting, creating & fun bits of business. I am very seldom a one & done person! I am compelled to create lots of parts & pieces to share with everyone! YAY! The more happy mail I send out the merrier everyone will be! Right? We all need some joy in our lives. Who does not love opening their mailbox to find a happy joyful surprise in there? Let's put all of the art supplies we have collected & accumulated to good use. SHALL WE?

I love creating custom inked ArtFoamies StampBuddies & ScrapBuddies with The Moon & The Maker Moonlight Duo Tint & Hue Re-inkers & MoonGlo re-inkers. This is how I create the colorful ombre & rainbow stamping effects with my ArtFoamies. I also love to use the Moonlight Duo Tint & Hue Ink pads if I want solid color stamping.
 

This creation began as I was playing with Marta Harvey's BUNNY WITH SWEATER TESSELLATION  ArtFoamies foam stamp. This was my first time using it. I think it is adorable! This bunny is also available without a sweater if you wish. Marta's tessellation ArtFoamies are so fun & fascinating to play with! I have a ball with them! Have you tried them? They fit together like puzzle pieces in many different directional patterns. I chose to stamp these in a spiral dance pattern onto 140 pound hot press watercolor paper.


Here I chose to color in the sweater patterns with a black gel pen. I was inspired to use my pens by my friend Nancy Sheads' incredible art. Have you seen her pen & alcohol marker stamp art? Did you see her last post? I am still GASPING at the GORGEOUSNESS! I discovered I need a lot more practice & perhaps a steadier hand. I tried & I will try again. Practice, practice, practice! We all start out as beginners, the important thing is we try & try again. Practice is the only way to improve.


I think this Bunny dance would be great as a spring flag, banner or a matted print framed on the wall. I thought about stamping or hand lettering "Let's Go To The Hop", "Hop To It" or "Don't Forget To Dance" on it. "Springtime" perhaps? I have not decided yet. I might just leave it as it is. What would you write on yours?

When I was fussy cutting some of  the bunnies, an idea HOPPED into my head. Why not create some darling whimsical spring baskets, tags & door hangers with these? SO FUN & ADOORABLE! 
I had Sandra Evertson's CUPULA  ArtFoamie sitting in front of me on the table. I thought to myself, that sure would make a perfect basket handle! So I inked it up with my custom inked StampBuddies & stamped a few sheets of them. YAY! It did! It worked! It made the perfect basket handle!


Kae Pea's PINWHEEL ArtFoamie was at my left hand so I stamped a few sheets of the pinwheels on 140 pound hot press watercolor paper using 2 of my different custom inked StampBuddy foam stamp pads. One was inked with MoonGlo Neon Brights & one was inked with the beautiful Moonlight Duo colors. 


Which color scheme is your favorite? You can ink up the StampBuddies & ScrapBuddies with the re-inker colors that are most pleasing to your eyes. I intend to make several more varieties & variations in the future. SO MUCH FASCINATING FUN!

To make the basket I decided to clip a few wedge sections out of the stamped PINWHEEL image with the scissors because it looked a lot like a purse or a locker padlock. Ooh! EVEN MORE inspiring ideas for future creations.

To make the basket handle, I short stamped the CUPULA ArtFoamie on the "B" side & fussy cut the middle piece out & followed the scallops around the edges with the scissors.


You will find there are many different ArtFoamies stamp designs that are two, three, even 4 different design options in one single stamp when you use their front, back, upside down or right side up. I even sometimes use just pieces & parts of some ArtFoamies designs. My imagination visions constantly show me & inspire me to try new & different things with my Art Foamies foam stamps.

My hot glue gun was hot & ready so I decided to attach the handle to the basket with hot glue. If you are not a hot glue person feel free to use use whatever paper adhesive you like best or have on hand.


The BUNNY WITH SWEATER is a perfect fit for the basket I created so I hot glued it to the out side of the basket. The thing I love about hot glue on paper is if you make a mistake or need to reposition something, all you need do is heat the paper with your heat tool & it will easily melt the hot glue & release the paper so you can move or remove it.


These baskets I made turned out to be the perfect size for hanging on door knobs or hooks. Great for cheerful springtime decor. You could also use them on greeting cards or as gift tags. I am using some to label my Grandkids' Spring Solstice & Easter baskets with their names. Put a pretty ribbon bow on it. Punch a hole & add some string. Add some bling! There you go! You did it! YAY!

Tiles, Tassels & Tuffets by Jenn White


Hello EVERYONE! Did you see my January blog post where I made the bright large rainbow hearts with  ArtFoamies StampBuddy pads with the Moon & The Maker MoonGlo & Moonlight Duo Tint & Hue ink refills?


I used those same custom inked StampBuddies to create these tiles, tassels & tuffets.

These were really fun & fast to create! I started by getting out a large pad of 140 pound watercolor paper. I chose ArtFoamies to use based on how Kae Pea's Tassels ArtFoamies would look attached to them. They are so fun & delightful! I was imagining piles of comfy, colorful patterned Bohemian pillows "tuffets."

After I finished stamping them all I cut out the tassels & tiles by hand with scissors. This went surprisingly fast & was very therapeutic.



The stamped mirror image symmetry combined with the brightly colored inks is so pleasing to my eyes!


I auditioned each of the tassels with each of the tiles to see which ones looked best with each style & color pattern.




You can use them for book covers, in journal spreads, pockets, folders, greeting cards, scrapbooking wall decor, table decor, coasters, banners, party decorations and so much more. Imagine them stamped on fabrics! I imagine them embellished with glitter, sparkling gems & tiny reflective mirror tiles! OOOH! AAAH!

With your creativity & these ArtFoamies there is no limit to the beauty you can achieve! They are sure to bring a peaceful smile to the faces that gaze upon them.
