Artfoamies Klimt Angels

 Hi Everyone,

I am Elitia Hart, a metal art and mixed media explorer.

For this blogpost I used Artfoamies to create a Klimt inspired background and angels to decorate a small mirror frame.

I usually use metal in my projects, but for this mirror frame I opted to use only paints and inks. A metallic look was created by using a one step gold leaf and silver paints.

Artfoamies Stamps Used :

Supplies :

Black Lacquered Ikea Mirror Frame
Liquitex Acrylic Color Basics Gold and Silver
Plaid Liquid Leaf One Step - Classic Gold
Tim Holtz Adirondak Alcohol inks:
 - Red Pepper, Stonewashed, Silver Mixative
Rubber Brayer
Glass Sheet
Fine Paint Brush
Baby Oil to clean oil-based paint
Rustoleum Painter's Touch Clear Glossy Lacquer Spray
Painter's Tape

Process :

As the Ikea frame was already painted Black I stamped directly onto the frame with
Liquitex Basics Silver and the Fragmented rings stamp as well as the Woman Power Stamps.

I created a mask for the women stamps in order to stamp the wings with gold paint.

Use one of the dragonfly wing stamps to create angel wings

As we used acrylic paint on a lacquered surface we need to seal the paint prior to proceeding to the next step. Cover the mirror insert with painter's tape and spray with two coats. Allow to dray in between coats.

I used Tim Holtz Adirondak Red Pepper Alcohol Ink to add red accents over the silver paint and Stonewashed over the inner edges of the circles over the silver paint for the sky.

I used a big ball tool to "paint" the center of the sky dots with Tim Holtz Silver Mixative.

I used Liquid Leaf Gold paint for the center of the wings leaving a black border and used the big ball tool to "paint" gold dots in the center of the bottom circles.

Once you have completed all the painting the project needs to be sealed again with a few coats of
Rustoleum Gloss Spray Lacquer.

Angels come in many shapes and forms - may you be someone's angel
as we navigate these challenging times!
