A Little Bit of Christmas

Hello Friends

This will be my final post for the Creative Moons Team. It's been a fun experience and I have loved sharing my projects with you. Since it's the time of year where there never seems to be enough time (even in a pandemic year) I thought I would make an easy holiday card.

I started with a scrap of a gelli print that I already had. It was printed on a book page. I love the vintage look of printing on old books. I also love the color blue for the holidays. I'm not sure why, but I have never been drawn to red and green for the holidays.

This first picture shows where I started. If you look closely, you will see there is a black shape on the left side of the print. I needed to move that to the background, so I combined teal acrylic paint and white gesso to cover it up.

I don't mind the rest of the black on the page, but I really didn't want that shape.

I knew I was going to use the Santa Holding a Tree stamped image from 100 Proof Press, so I chose a piece of scrap paper that had a complementary color. I tend to love a monochromatic color palette. I liked all the bits and pieces that were on this scrap.

I felt like the background, while interesting, needed a little something else that would compliment the Santa stamp, so I chose the greeting "just believe." It seemed appropriate.

Next I stamped the Santa on the small scrap and used some water color paints and acrylic paints to give him some color.

I applied dimensional tape to the back so he would stand out from the card itself and placed him down.

And last, I put a black border behind the card and used permanent tape to adhere it to the card.

This was a fun and easy project which used some scraps that I already had. Probably start to finish, it took me about 45 minutes.

My final tip: I often cut up my Gelli Prints into card size so that I don't have to start with a blank white piece of paper. This works really well for me!
